That’s right, Father Christmas has arrived at markes Ices bringing one of his elf helpers with him! For many lucky children Christmas is coming early because Father Christmas and his elf will be attending their schools to serve them ice cream!

But, it’s not normal ice cream, no! This is the magical North Pole Ice cream made by the elves in the workshop! Spending all year mixing and making it, the elves have sent their special ice cream to Markes Ices.
With his reindeer safe in the stable, Father Christmas is now in the Ice cream van and on his way! So keep your eyes open and you might just see him!

Why is it called a 99 ice cream / Cadbury Flake

An Ice Cream served in a cone with a Flake 99 is the UK's favourite ice cream. In the days of the monarchy in Italy the King had an elite guard consisting of 99 soldiers. Subsequently anything really special or first class was known as "99". When Cadbury launched its small Flake for ice creams in 1930, the UK ice cream industry was dominated by ex-pat Italians. So, to appeal to Italians we called our superb Flake a "99".

Robert Films with CBeebies

The Scene was set for Fun and excitement

Who said TV had to be boring? When Cbeebie’s “Nuzzle and Scratch” and Markes ices came together, the scene was set for a mixture for laughter and excitement. Arriving at the Verullanium Park in St Albans, many people crowded round to see the puppets and Markes ices in action as they filmed for the new series released next year.
Nuzzle and Scratch came to the ice cream van for a nice tasty lolly, but all was not so simple, the comedians controlling the puppets soon had everyone in fits of laughter, two real comedians, making cast and crew alike almost rolling on the floor...except for one camera man who in his laughing state nearly fell into a pond nearby!

In a few hours time all the filming was completed and the filming crew enjoyed a well earned ice cream each. ‘Robert’ who attended this filming event said “it was probably the hardest thing I have ever done, trying not to laugh when the camera’s are rolling, especially with Nuzzle and Scratch there. Those two are real talented comedians”.

So there you have it, another successful TV and media hire completed by Markes Ices. ‘Robert’ also said: “not only was this event completed professionally and efficiently, I had a really good time”.

New Ice Cream Van Is On It's Way.

As we enter the closed season Markes Ices has sold on Dianes Ice cream van to an operator in Edmonton who purchased the ice cream van for his Daughter to start her new career. We wish them all the best, and we know with the quality of ice cream machinery in Di’s van she has a very worry free and good start. We have ordered a new ice cream van for Diane and should arrive in the next few weeks.Then the ice cream van will be sent off to be sprayed in our now familiar Purple and yellow colours, after this the ice cream van will go to the vinyl shop to have our name, address, and logo’s placed all over. We have updated the fleet to maintain our very high standards and quality assurance for our clients. The new show ice cream van is half as long again as our others and Diane is looking forward to the extra space, fridges and serving area. we have ordered a new harmony 64 chime system so our very well known chime “The Yellow Rose Of Texas” will be heard as before on Dianes round. The new ice cream van is designed with the sinks at the rear of the serving area leaving the front to have a second passenger seat so we can send a second member of staff to large events. Diane says “I am looking forward to working in the new ice cream van and for our customers all over Kent and London to see it.”

Markes Ices attended with two ice cream vans at Upchurch firework display Saturday 6th November. All agreed it was a great night, the weather was kind, firework display excellent and the ice cream was very popular.
